City & Guilds 4351 – Computer Aided Design

Is the course for me?

This course provides you with the basic underpinning knowledge of Computer Aided Design using computers. Elementary technical drawings skills would be advantageous but not essential.

Prior to enrolment on this course, you will need to have an Initial Assessment in Literacy and/or Numeracy. This will ensure that you are enrolled on the right level of course to succeed and help us to identify and provide any support that you might need.

What does the course involve?

You will learn to:

Develop basic drafting skills using a Computer Aided Drafting package. Course content includes Safety, System software, preparing the CAD system, Co-ordinate entry, editing drawing, object construction, using layers, hatching, using templates, saving and printing drawings.

How will I learn?

You will  learn in a variety of ways; continuous on-course assessment, course-work and two practical papers plus one multi-choice paper.

What will I need for the course?

Most books with AutoCAD included in the title would be useful, but not essential. Basic course handouts will be provided.

Qualifications

City & Guilds 4353-01 AutoCAD 2D Certificate Level 2.

What options are open to me if I successfully complete the course?

Successful students can progress to City & Guilds 4353-02 Level 3 CAD.
