City & Guilds 3681 – Health and Safety
Is the course for me?
The Progression Award is a work based qualification designed to give a general overview of the nine areas of health & safety.
The main objectives of these awards are to offer the opportunity to prove competence of knowledge and understanding and to recognise the ability of individuals to work safely, to recognise and to deal with hazards in the workplace. This award is supplemented with a formal exam, to confirm knowledge and understanding.
You will be 16 years of age or over and employed in order to generate the evidence required by the City and Guilds standards. There are no formal entry requirements but you must be capable of studying at Level 2.
What does the course involve?
You will learn a general understanding of the main areas of health and safety which are:-
*Summary of the main statutory provisions relating to Health & Safety
*The Acts or Omissions of persons at work
*Work conditions and systems
*Controlling and Monitoring Risk
*Encouraging and maintaining positive attitudes towards safety at work; creating a Risk culture
*Using personal protective equipment
*Accidents
*Risks from fire
*Chemical risks
*Moving loads
How will I learn?
You will learn in a variety of ways; your assessment will be a mixture of practical assessments, tutorials and multiple choice tests, theory work, private study, and self motivation.
What will I need for the course?
Motivation, patience and the ability to focus on tasks.
What qualifications or experience do I need to get on the course?
There are no forward requirements for the course, however, knowledge of the construction industry would be advantageous.
What are the options for me if I successfully complete the course?
If you complete the course successfully you will receive your City & Guilds 3681 Progression Award in Safety Practices - Level 2. You can then progress to;
- Health and Safety NVQ Level 3
- Employment
