Established in 2001, the LSC is a public body which are responsible for planning and funding everyone across England, with exception of those in Universities. The LSC replaced the Training and Enterprise Councils and Further Education Funding Council. LSC also supports Apprenticeships and Train to Gain.

Train to Gain is the link between employers and providers through a network of advisers, supplying training tailored to their specific needs. The LSC offers support to young people through Apprenticeships, Education Maintenance Allowances and the Entry to Employment scheme.
