Alumni Association

The Building Crafts College’s Alumni Association was launched at a Celebration Event on Wednesday 2nd November 2011. To mark the Building Crafts College being established in Stratford for 10 years in 2011, past students who achieved a Level 3 qualification in Wood or Stone or a Fine Woodwork or Stonemasonry Diploma were invited to a celebration event. Invitations were sent to the addresses we have on our files, but if you are a past student who attended the College here at Kennard Road since 2001 and did not hear from us, please get in touch by clicking here

The event was a good opportunity for past students to catch up and rekindle some old friendships. More information about the Alumni Association will be posted in due course.

Alumni Association Lecture Series
As part of the Alumni Association lecture series, two very interesting and enjoyable talks have been held here at the Building Crafts College.

Other lectures will be held during the course of the academic year.
“a member of the Alumni Association writes …”
March 2013

“Most people will never understand the importance of good craft training! They never give the door they open or the chair they pull out at breakfast every morning a second thought.

That changed for me after having spent my time as a student and later as an instructor at the Building Crafts College, the skills and knowledge that I gained were and still are used on a daily basis.

But the greatest asset that the College gave me was a sense of belonging to a greater family of like-minded individuals.”

October 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed my two years at the BCC, socially as well as academically. I learnt an invaluable set of skills and detailed knowledge of the world of carpentry and cabinet making as well as studying alongside a great group of fellow makers.

Since finishing the course in July I have held a number of jobs at various joiners and cabinet making firms. I have now settled at one of the most reputable cabinet making companies in London. I have been working there for 6 months now and continue to learn and develop my craft.

I hope to be at my current company for many years and expand within the organisation. I have not completely given up on the idea of one day setting up on my own but for now I still have a lot to learn until this can be achieved. I hope you’re all doing well and still enjoying woodwork.
