NEWS: Jay Blades’ fundraiser helps the Building Crafts College
We are absolutely delighted to be among 5 recipients of a donation by the inspirational Jay Blades, presenter of BBC 1’s The Repair Shop and Money for Nothing and the Director of Jay & Co. The gift to the college was the outcome of a fundraiser led by Jay & Co with Race Furniture, part of Ocee Design.
Himself an east London boy, Jay left school at 15, eventually finding his true vocation in furniture restoration and upcycling, and now a leading light as Director of Jay & Co and television presenter. His work reflects many of the values we aim to promote here at the BCC – and as he says in his Instagram announcement, he was struck by the hard work we are doing here at the college to help young people find a future in their chosen craft or trade. And impressed by some fantastic results from our learners!
Jay’s donation will go towards new equipment for our joinery department – we can guarantee it will be invaluable in helping our apprentices continue to produce work of the highest standard. Thank you Jay Blades!
