NEWS: Seven awards and shortlistings at New Designers

Twenty of the Building Craft College’s Fine Woodwork Diploma Year 2 students exhibited during the second week of New Designers, at Islington’s Business Design Centre, 3–6 July.

New Designers provides a unique platform for recent design graduates to connect with educators, professionals and consumers. For two weeks, you can discover, connect with and support more than 3,000 breakthrough talents and 100 new creative businesses. The show features everything from illustration to animation, furniture to fashion. It provokes fresh thinking and kick-starts careers, providing a pipeline of young talent into one of the UK’s leading sectors. The work on display is complemented by an extensive range of design-focused talks and events, a hands-on printing workshop and prestigious Awards programme.

During the show, five Building Crafts College students received a record-breaking seven awards and shortlistings: Jack Bibbings ( – talent Lab), Rachel Elston ( – talent Lab and John Lewis), Matthew Hensby (John Lewis and The Conran Shop), Paul Wones (John Lewis), Florent Pinzuto (Joseph and Joseph), Hamish Cock (100% Design).
