Short Course – An Introduction to Bench Joinery

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an ideal beginners class or a refresher course for learners who have been away from working in wood for a while. You will learn the following:
- Marking out timbers
- Safe use of hand tools
- Sharpening tools: planes and chisels
- Drawing rods – full scale drawing of a project
- Basic joints: mortice & tenon, halving, cross halving, & dovetail joints
- Small joinery project
The course is likely to be a two week/10 day block during the summer holidays or as a 10 week Saturday Course. All dates subject to change

QUALIFICATION
- College certificate
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Interest in woodworking
- No prior experience necessary
You will need to bring:
- Steel toe-capped boots (to be worn at all times while on course)
- H or 2H pencils
- Pencil sharpener
- Eraser/rubber
- Pens/pencils
- Notebook/paper
COURSE DURATION
- More detail to follow but likely to be a two week block/10 days over Summer and/or a 10 week Saturday Course. All dates subject to change
FEES
- Fees tbc and dependent on length of course but a 10 day block or Saturday Course will be £1,050. Please apply via website to register your interest and we will contact you with further details in due course
